Little House in the Big Woods
eBook Review
Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Format: eBook
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Blurb
Laura Ingalls and her family live deep in the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Their log cabin is surrounded by miles of trees, and their closest neighbours are bears, wolves and panthers.
Daily chores keep Laura and her sister Mary busy, but they still find time to go exploring with their dog, Jack.
My review
I’ve never read the books, but I did watch the television series many years ago and enjoyed it.
I expected to really enjoy the books and couldn’t wait to read them once I found them.
But the pleasure was short-lived.
I found the books lacking in many ways. Maybe it is because I’m older and wiser, or maybe there is another reason, but I found them difficult to read.
I know the books were written a long time ago and I automatically make allowances for that. My issue was that the characters were stiff and I found it hard to stay within the pages, let alone the world of Laura Ingalls and her family.
The end of the book came and I felt no compulsion to rush out and get the next one.
It’s a shame because I feel as if I really should have enjoyed them.
