I’ve been hearing about Facebook for some time now and decided to join and find out what all the fuss is about. It’s another networking community. I haven’t been a member for long enough to know if I like it or not, but I can tell you that I’ve already found a lot of familiar faces - even ones that I haven’t heard from in some time. I can, however, tell you that I spent literally hours on the site last night and again tonight. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.
Now, I’m off to do some writing.

What’s the quality of the users of this site, Karen? Is it just like MySpace? I’ve been hearing about this site a lot lately but have been leery of joining.
I’ve never used MySpace so I can’t really make a comparison, Deborah. However, so far, Facebook has been good. I don’t think I’d spend a lot of time there each day, but maybe I should force myself to login at least a few times a week … for a month or two … and see what happens from there.
It’s like everything else on the Internet…it can suck up as much time as you will let it.
I like it because it helps me keep up with what folks I know are doing. Strangely enough, the little “status” block where you enter what you’re doing, helps me focus on my plans for the day–I think for a second about what I really want to accomplish for the day, and type it in. Then I seem more likely to go and do it! It’s weird, the little things that keep us on track. I generally just log in every morning, set my status and see if I have notes or anything from family & friends, and that’s it. I also limit my friends list to people I really want to keep track of.
I’ve spent way too much time on Facebook over the last few days, but I think I’ve got the hang of it now.
