Wow, that is excellent news. I can see how your confidence has been lifted. I was going to wish you luck on the edit of Mirror Image, but hey this is something else that I don't think you even need luck for.

Hope it works out well.

Oh wow, what fantastic news! I can understand your level headedness, but I know you must be bubbling away inside.

All the best for the next step! :D

If only we didn't have to edit. The work on my short story was hard enough, and I'm still planning to do another edit soon. God knows how much work it will for a novel.

Best of luck.

There are certainly some books out there that read like a first draft. :P

Good luck with your edits.

I think we need to be careful on what we are expecting from POD and services offered for free. Yes they should still meet what they say they are going to but lets not be too hard on Lulu here. The problem lies with Amazon and they are the ones that should be held responsible for this.

I printed a couple copies of my book last year as gifts and used Lulu. I found the serve and cost to be quite reasonable. I would however now use a POD service (not at this time) to personally publish a book that I wanted to see in book stores or on Amazon, I would pursue a traditional route for that.

POD has it's place. It is good at what it does, but let's not harp on it for things it doesn't do well or for the road blocks put in its way the the bullies of the publishing industry.

BTW, Have you tried marketing the book yourself and by the authors, sending people to your own site or Lulu store front? You won't get as many sales but it would be a start, I don't know if you can add something to the Amazon page to say, if it's out of print here check at this other site?

I hear you. I've left Lulu behind. When I started with them in 2005/6 it was great. Now they've gone so far downhill that they're barely recognisable.

I've set up my own publishing company and deal direct with a POD printer and all is going fine. Even on Amazon.

Karen - the old offer still stands if you're interested.

I haven't used Lulu since I published Prosperity. After reading about Amazon's unethical tactics in March, I'm not sure what I'm going to do after my next book is ready for publication. Like you said, Amazon has walloped the POD industry, just when it was really starting to take off.

I've been keeping an eye out on Booklocker, who filed a class action suit against Amazon in May. But the case will take a few years to get to court. In the meantime, I will toss out all of the email I receive regarding BookSurge, which I've heard is atrocious and wait things out. I'm hopeful that Angela Hoy will win this lawsuit. Maybe then, we'll get what we paid for. :(
